I haven't found a job yet. But I've applied for at least 30 jobs...
I applied as room attendant, receptionist, sales assistant, multifunctional assistant, guest assistant, waitress, catering staff, bar staff... amongst others at Harrods, Waterstones, Boots, phones4u, Caffè Nero, Cineworld, Vue (two cinemas) etc. I also applied at the Palmer's Lodge.
I got my first letter of rejection from Boots on Monday. Haven't heard from the others so far...
And I had an interview on Monday. At the Royal College of Physicians.. I applied as a waitress. I couldn't find an internet cafe in this posh area to print out my CV, but the receptionist was very friendly and let me print it out at the reception (for 20p per page, haha!). The man who interviewed me was very nice. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to take my piercings out but he asked me if they were permanent and I immediately apologized and said that it is no problem to take them out. He explained that they are looking for the best because only doctors and... I can't remember what he said.. governors or politicians or something like that... are eating there. But he said it would be no problem to have no experience cuz everything can be taught except for the right attitude. I think I was very friendly and smily and answered all the questions so.. We'll see. They'll call me at the end of the week.
Today I will apply for a few more jobs and call a few numbers because I think it's faster to call them and arrange a viewing than to send an email and wait for their response. And if I call them, I make a better impression and they hear that my English is not as bad as you might think when someone is in London to improve their language skills.
I will also apply at Starbucks and Subway today, I think.
Apart from jobhunting, I haven't done very much since Sunday.
My mum was online in icq on Sunday and we were talking for more than one hour after I had called her landline to explain her how to use the headset my brother gave her. She has never used the internet before and I tried to explain her how to check her emails and her profile on wkw.. Haha, a bit exhausting after a while. But she's learning how to use the internet to communicate with me.. Bless her! :)
After I was talking to my mum (cuz my international minutes were already used up again by the way.. I get 50 min for topping up 10 pounds but usually I can only use 20 of them.. at least!), I wanted to watch TV but it was very slow, so I opened the task manager and closed a few applications. But now my wi-fi connection isn't working anymore! I need to take my laptop to a Starbucks to see if the wireless connection is working there.. Fortunately, I found a wire to connect my laptop to the router which is in my room! (but I scorched the wire with a candle.. I'm a bit clumsy sometimes, I know.. but it's still working though) I tried to reboot teh system, tried to do a system recovery twice but it didn't work.. Anyway...
Emily visited me on Monday :) She was in Barcelona and Paris in the last couple of days and stayed at my place one night. We had a very nice evening. Now she's caving near Manchester..
My father transferred money to my German account which arrived today. I have already transferred it to my English account (despite the bad exchange rate) to activate it. I hope the money will arrive soon as well as my PIN etc. so I can finally use my debit card... I hope everything's working out cuz the BIC number which I got at the Lloyds bank on Monday wasn't working so I used the Swift code from their homepage..
So.. plans for today: call a few jobs, write a few more applications, call the "BAföG Amt" back cuz they left a message on my mother's answering machine, get money from the Barclays bank to pay the rent, find an internet cafe to print out my CV and mabye go to a few pubs to hand it out.
So long...
