What an adventure...

I slept the first night in this nasty hostel... First of all: My luggage was still in my room and I think nothing's missing :)

I was really glad I brought my own bedsheets cuz the ones here have weird stains and don't look as if they're freshly washed.. Because I can't lock my door properly, I moved one of the two beds, the one I was sleeping in, right in front of the door and discovered some rubbish underneath it.. It looks as if the room hasn't been cleaned for ages! But at least nobody could come into my room this way.. To sleep in and to distract me from the noise outside (it was loud as hell.. people talking and a very busy street.. must be the thinnest windows I've ever seen), I started to watch the Disney movie “The lady and the tramp” on my laptop. But the sound wasn't very good and my eyes were heavy, so I preferred an audiobook in the end.

This is how my room looked like at night:

Due to the noise of the street, I had woken up before my alarm rang. I couldn't feel any bug bites and nothing was itching or scratching :) Then I had to search the loo which wasn't very easy cuz all the doors look the same. I found a room with 3 toilets and 2 showers, but none of the doors could be locked properly. The soap next to the sink was empty. I went back to take a shower in the corner of my room. Taking a shower felt like standing in summer rain.. But hey, at least there is a shower! It's not only my room that doesn't have a power point, also the ladies room is lacking power. That's why I dried my hair outside my room.

The breakfast was... not very healthy, I'd say. Untoasted toast with jam, cornflakes and skimmed milk.. I was talking to an Italian guy who said his roommates were also looking for a job and they found one in a few days by printing out their CVs and handing them out in every pub. I might also do that today :)

Now I'm in the.. I don't know how they call this room full of grafittis and old couches that stinks of sweat.. lounge? I'm offline at the moment. I only have 1,50 pound on me and I don't want to go looking for a Barclay's bank in the rain but internet for one day is 3 pounds. I'll write everything I can offline and then buy the code after I've been to the bank.

Okay, be optimistic and make the best of it.. I survived the first night without bug bites!!!

:)

...

Now I'm the coffee shop of the hostel again. I wrote this entry after breakfast. Then I called the Jobcentre Plus in Rusholme, Manchester that I can't come to my appointment on Thursday. They changed my interview to the 22nd of October in Tooting. I'm relieved :) After that, I went to Piccadilly Circus to go to Barclay's and to Tesco's. I was looking for the “Loot”, it's a newspaper with many ads for flats and jobs. But I couldn't find it. Neither in underground stations, nor in bookstores or supermarkets.. I was walking from Piccadilly to Leicester Square, to Charing Cross, to Oxford Circus. My shoulders were hurting cuz I was carrying my laptop around cuz I was afraid to leave it in the hostel. That's when I finally gave up and went back to Kensal Green. I bought a code for the internet connection but couldn't connect for about 2 hours. Christian, a nice guy from German, tried to help me but was also clueless. He skyped with a friend in Bucharest until it finally worked again :)

So, I haven't had any viewings or interviews today due to my inability to find the “Loot” and the problems with the internet connection. But I'm motivated to get up early tomorrow, find that damn newspaper and call many people to arrange viewings, print out my CV to hand it out in several pubs and finally get the ball rolling :)

Rock on! Haha...
